Jaffer Bhai’s Delhi Darbar, located on SV road near jogeshwari station road. The ambiance gives you a royalish feel with decent and helpful staff. Since it’s more known for its mughlai dishes, I tried some dishes which people are less aware of and hardly available in other restaurants. While going through their menu card I came across dishes like Chicken Albaik, Fish Albaik and other Arabian cuisine which is usually seen and available in middle East. So instead of going for regular tikkas I preferred ordering Chicken Albaik, Fish Albaik, Chicken Shawarma in starters.
Chicken Albaik has a crispy classy taste where each bite gives you a delectable crunchiness. On the other hand Fish Albaik which is served from Basa fish has its own soft and juicy taste which gets melted with all it’s flavors experiencing your taste buds. The good part is both this dishes comes with a special garlic mayonnaise dips which enhances it’s taste. Chicken shawarma sliced in two comes with extra fillings and sauces which made me give it one more brownies point extra.
Moving towards main course, so we ordered their famous Mutton Dum Biryani. Being a Biryani lover, I found it quite okayish since probably I was expecting more. Somehow we finished our orders and while the brain was resisting to have more, there was a small space in the tummy which was shouting for desserts.
So listening to our dessert space we ordered Gulab Jamun and Rabdi angoori Gulab Jamun.
Gulab Jamun was served warm. It was presented well and tasted as expected while rabdi angoori jamun were served in a small cup of rabdi with baby gulab jamuns dipped in the same. Every byte of rabdi gives a small taste of gulab jamun filled with its syrup. Its like a dessert celebration that happens inside you once you take every bite of it.
Overall it’s a great place to spend time with family and friends over a decent food. Am certainly looking forward for few more visits.
